Hey there!  We are Dan and Barbara Goodrich. We started this farm in 2005 when Barbara bought the property in order to expand her thriving wedding business. In 2005, there were no improvements, and the only tree on the property was the 200-year old Oak Tree that now stand in the Ceremony area of the gardens. Needless to say, there was much to be done. In 2007, we drilled a well. In 2008, we brought in power. From there, we started building the gardens. When we met in 2006, we realized we had a lot in common. Dan liked shooting guns, Barbara liked shooting guns. Barbara loved anything camo, so did Dan. Dan loved the San Luis Obispo area, Barbara…

SO, I am on a mission to add to the guest experience. Some of my neighbor friends have talent too, and here are some of the things we have come up with. Experiences We Can Set Up for You... Hartley Farms Jam Making Class | $95 per station (1-4 people per station) | Barbara Goodrich, owner of Hartley Farms, will teach…

Wedding Day - February 14 Our Farm Stays - The Walker-Hughes Room When we first came up with the idea of a bed and breakfast, we learned we were allowed to have up to eight interior rooms. So, we decided to name each room after a grandparent, and decorate them in their honor.  Barbara knew she wanted a room named for her grandmother, Gay Vaughn.  Dan thought about it a lot, and decided he could name a room after his last living grandmother, Helen Hughes.  But he could not think of a time Helen was apart from her love, Lamar Walker.  Even after 62 years of marriage, she was always sitting on his lap, or he was lovingly hugging her. …

Our Farm Stays - The Vaughn Room by Barbara Goodrich When Dan and I first had the idea of Farm Stays, we learned that the county allowed up to eight interior rooms, and I thought "why not name each room after a grandparent?". After all, we are here because of them, and what a great way to keep their memories alive.  I did not get a chance to meet all my grandparents, but my folks were always so good about telling stories about them, I feel like I knew them all.  And they all had amazing lives: from a dentist to Kaiser Wilhelm II to an inventor.  But the only one I met, was a coal miner's daughter from Colorado,…
