The dust has settled. The contractors have moved out. The permit is finalized. Our little home is so sweet. I am in love. We still need to finish up some outside pavers and landscaping, but I am pretty happy with the way it all turned out. Bob from Reberry Construction was so great to work with. He has been so reasonable and honest. I plan on hiring him for everything else in the future. Here are some pictures of the finished product. Maybe you can stop in a take a look for yourself! Some Panoramas of the Inside:
The Bathroom. The door was reclaimed from a 1903 Oxnard House. The medicine cabinet is from a local antique shop (The Barn). The counter-tops are quartz to match the kitchen. Since the sconces were a little tight, and didn’t give me much room, I found a smaller mirror from Pottery Barn that fit the cut outs just right. The shower floor is exposed aggregate in concrete.
The floors were dome by Dan’s brother, Clark, who is a professional. His company, The Concrete Guise, is based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The kitchen counter-tops are quartz. The cabinets were done by Morro Bay Cabinets in Paso Robles. And yes, there is a tiny, 18″ dishwasher in there from Sears. The Bosch dishwasher was the only 18″ dishwasher that came “panel ready” which means we were able to match it to the cabinetry. The refrigerator is a vintage 1950s model. It was purchased at a local antiques mall. The couch is by American Leather; I researched the most comfortable pull-out sofa and this is what I found. The style is Lyndon. The color is Slate Blue in Ultrasuede. The rug is from Pottery Barn called ‘Elias’. The Murphy Bed bunk beds came from Wall Beds by Wilding in Utah. They were a great company to work with. We went with the mattresses they recommended and they shipped it all together. The shipment was HEAVY!! Moving it around to store it before the house was ready for it was insane. But once it went in, it was everything I had hoped it would be. Beautiful, durable, and the kids love it! We ordered it unfinished so we could match the interior moulding. Everything matches perfectly. It even matches the “hoosier” (that’s what the antique mall lady called that big hutch in the back corner) which is an old-timey kitchen staple. It has cabinets above, big pull-out bins below, and a cutting board; but we just use it to hold the coffee stuff. Mmmm…. coffee… Oh! Where were we… I made the curtains in the kitchen with my trusty sewing machine. The accent chairs were from Overstock.com. The dining room chairs were a housewarming gift from Soltana at Velvet Alley Events. They came from Cost Plus World Market.
Only a few more things to make it complete, but for the most part, it’s done! Now, on to the next project: The Main House!
