After almost a year of going back and forth with the county, we can finally begin our adventure of building a house! This small addition to the farm will be a 600 square foot cottage with a bathroom and kitchenette. It will be used as a Bride's Changing Room for events, a vacation rental, and maybe our home when we have our main house in the works, and plan a final move to the farm. **sigh**, someday... A little while back, I got a bee in my bonnet to create a Groom's Room at our Somis location. How hard could it be? I thought. Won't cost too much. I thought. Since the county has a rule about how big small sheds can be (10'x12' without a permit), I decided to do a storage container. I chose a 20' container and told they guy "DON'T refurbish it". I wanted all the rugged manliness that is a storage container. I found a great deal on a floor model french door, and our mechanic said he could install it! Done! Easy! This week, Dan's sister's family was visiting before they head off to New Zealand for FIVE years. Jonathan is a civil engineer and was gracious enough to grade the building pad for our cottage. This little 900 square foot cottage will be a Vacation Rental, and our Brides Dressing Room when we have a wedding! It is in a craftsman style and will feature a full bathroom, small kitchen, open loft and lots if cool antique-ie barn stuff! Pictures to follow!
Recently (September 25), some friends decided we needed to have some updated wedding pics. Photography by Charise and Bruce Barrios Mobile DJ helped me put together a mini photo shoot at the farms. I'm sure it wasn't any incentive at all that I set up a wine tasting adventure the day before. Mental note: next time do the wine tasting AFTER the photo shoot. So with everyone in tow, we set up some sample tables, a guest book table, and a ceremony.
